If Michelle Hendra does not ring a bell to you, try Michimomo. Yes, The Michimomo. A top fashion and beauty blogger that successfully influence Indonesian trend with her writings, reviews, and contents since 2008. “Lately, I have been busy with the same thing; YouTube, and Instagram. But I just got myself a TV-series called ‘The Ideas’ so excited for it,” explained Michi to Eyelovin’s team.
The story started in 2008, as she went on stage for a pageant show that demanded all participants to have a blog. “I started it because it was one of the criteria that had to be fulfilled on the pageant show. Turns out, I figured I love writing. Ever since I started to write more and more. When I am sad, I will write, when I am happy, I will too.” Her love for writing continues to give her more self-esteem to start posting pictures of her wearing fashionable outfits. “Back in the days I guess there were no #ootd, it was just me, posting myself wearing outfits. It continues up until today. But now I do not write as much, I converted it to YouTube because I know nowadays people prefer to see more visuals than to read.”
Now, Michi already has 128k followers on Instagram and 251k subscribers on YouTube. She filled her days with 3 to 4 events daily and creating contents. “My followers are the best, their existence molds me. There will never be ‘me’ without them. Because of them, every day I always try to be my best self.”
As social media arises and changes our ways to consume contents and information, Michi sees both sides of the coin; negative and positive of it. “For me, there will always be a downside and upside of everything. When it comes to social media, the positive side is that you can always be aware of the world that you have never seen before. You can learn new things, and consume more information in just a snap. The downside is that because you can easily access everything, it is very easy for you to compare your life to others. Sometimes it can be quite buggy.”
Her ambition does not stops in conquering social media, besides having her own TV show, her dream is also to act on a big screen. “I got asked to play a part in a film already, unfortunately, I do not feel suitable with the synopsis. You know, I always believe the hardest character that I might be playing is the opposite character of me. It does not have to be like a big character, I mean, a psycho or something. But a normal character that has a totally different character as mine. It will quite a challenge and exciting at the same time.”
Michi is also building her own business brand, and that is a spicy paste or as we called it in Indonesia sambal. She loves spicy food, and wanted to give out options of sambal for people to taste. Hands down for this superb young lady! She is quite an inspiration for all independent women out there.
